Captain Henry Charles Edward Vernon Graham, of the 15th (or King's) Regiment of [Light] Dragoons was faced with two charges. The first charge was "scandalous and infamous behaviour, unbecoming the character of an officer and gentleman" occasioned by accusing an officer, Captain Broadhurst,"before a Sergeant of his Troop, of having behaved improperly" by observing to the sergeant "that he had a great mind to put Captain Broadhurst under arrest" (6). The second charge related to letters sent to Capt. Graham to his Commanding Officer stating that "the whole of the Junior Officers [were] forming a systematic plan to drive him [Capt. Graham] out of the Regiment (7).In the event, Graham was found not guilty on the first charge but guilty on the second, for which it was ordered that he be reprimanded by the commanding officer in the presence of the field officers of the Regiment. Graham appears to have sponsored this publication. The trial ends with an afterword by Graham that adds his perspective and notes that he printed a number of copies of his trial report for "the information of my relations, and those friends most interested in my welfare" (83-84). No copies listed on COPAC. OCLC locates one copy worldwide (Yale University).
