Paper spine skillfully repaired; some light foxing; an unusually fine copy, enclosed in a chemise and pull-off morocco case.. 12mo, original printed brown boards, untrimmed. Bryant's first collection of verse, edited anonymously by Richard Henry Dana, Sr. and E. T. Channing. Among the eight poems which make their first collected appearances here are two of Bryant's most famous, "Thanatopsis" and "To a Water Fowl." Bookplate on the front paste-down of the important collector of American literature, Frank Maier.
