Untitled Broadside
N.p.: Privately printed c. late 1970s - Single typescript page. "An extremely rare production by Richard Prince, illustrated by one of his 'Untitled (Couples).' The piece reads like Kerouac on Quaaludes: part stream-of-consciousness prose, part poetry, all slowed down to a needled nod. Within the text, one can find clues to Prince's artistic state of mind, and the piece speaks volumes about his practice of rephotography. He 'cools down' reality, keeping a distance between it and his artistic self." -- John McWhinnie, from "A (Late) Holiday Offering," 2009. Prince himself referred to the writing as "gobbledygook". I beg to differ.
