Autograph musical quotation signed "G. Francesco Malipiero."
The Notturno was first performed at the Teatro alla Fenice in Venice on September 11, 1957. The present quotation is from the Editions Salabert, Paris version of the work. Malipiero was an Italian composer and musicologist. "Although very uneven, and less influential than Casella and Pizzetti, he was the most original and inventive Italian composer of his generation." John C.G. Waterhouse in Grove Music Online.. 1 page (ca. 85 x 218 mm). Dated Asolo (Treviso), February 27, 1958. Three measures, being the opening of the Notturno di canti e balli per orchestra. Notated in blackl ink on treble and bass clefs on 2 printed staves. In 3/4 time. Slightly worn; creased at fold, with small tape repair to verso, not affecting music.
