A New Map Of The English Empire In America ...
R.Morden & C.Browne / J.Senex - London - - 59 x 50 - Original colour - First published by Robert Morden and Christopher Browne in c.1698 (according to Burden) as a separate publication, this large and detailed map depicts the east coast of America from Newfoundland to Florida. This example was revised by John Senex in 1719 and bears his imprint in the title piece. This fourth state by Senex is the example in which the map is chiefly known. Senex added a dedicatory cartouche to Edgly Herver of Clapham and the map was published in atlas form in his work, "New General Atlas Of The World". Inset maps show Boston harbour, derived from the most up-to-date information available, and a general chart of the Atlantic and bordering countries. The map was engraved by John Harris. With minor centrefold restoration. - McCorkle, New England In Early Printed Maps, 719.7.
