IBM's Early Computers; [together with] Typed letter signed from Charles Bashe to I. Bernard Cohen on the headed notepaper of IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center.
Cambridge, MA: The MIT Press, 1986 - Octavo. Original blue cloth, spine lettered in yellow. With the dust jacket and the letter laid-in. Head of spine very lightly creased, upper corners gently bumped, dust jacket extremities a little rubbed, overall an excellent copy. Typed letter signed in fine condition. Numerous black and white photographic illustrations. First edition, first printing, presentation copy inscribed from the authors to "I. Bernard Cohen – Many thanks". As the editor of the MIT Press Series in the History of Computing, Cohen provided the foreword for this book, which chronicles and analyses the technical development of IBM from its time as a small manufacturer in the 1920s to its status in the 1960s as one of the largest rapidly growing computer companies in the world. The typed letter signed from Bashe to Cohen, dated 11 December 1985, thanks Cohen for his assistance and encouragement over the years and reiterates the sentiments put forth in the book's acknowledgements: "it was a most pleasant and rewarding collaboration".
