J.Rocque / J.Tinney, J.Pine & T.Bowles - London - - 95 x 49.5 - Uncoloured - A magnificent map of London by John Rocque on one sheet - reduced from his 24 sheet map of London. The map extends from Sadlers Wells in the north to Kennington in the south and from Mile End in the east to Hyde Park in the west. The whole is dedicated to Martin Folkes, President of the Royal Society. With the imprint of John Tinney, John Pine and Thomas Bowles this is the first state of the map that was published in 1749. The map was engraved by Isaac Basire (plan) and R.W.Seale (letters) who are credited at lower left. An infrequently seen map in a most convenient format by the celebrated Huguenot emigre mapmaker.
