Pretty, witty Nell, as Samuel Pepys referred to her, was the long-time mistress of Charles II, and the pre-eminent actress of Restoration England. The volume contains many portraits of Nell, Charles II, and many of their famous contemporaries, such as John Dryden, Godfrey Kneller, Aphra Behn, and others.
