Aljen Haskell 3rd MA Calvary Plus WWI Collection Ashley Jewett (Grandson)
No Binding. Good. Wonderful Civil War collection ID'd to Aljen Haskell of the 3rd MA Calvary. Collection includes: 1. Haskell's Civil War Discharge. 2. Haskell's 1864 ID'd Soldier Testament with Patriotic NY Bible Society Plate. 3. A Rare UVU (Union Veterans Union) medal in great condition. The Testament ID'd to Haskell inside rear cover and to his wife inside front cover. 4. Testament also has the name Alfred G. Worthley in the rear of the Testament. Worthley served in the 40th MA Infantry was transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corp on January 1 1865. Research shows Aljen and Alfred lived roughly 20 miles apart. At some point they must have met during the war. Both eventually became seamen. Both soldiers saw extensive action. Extensive research included with purchase. 5. Collection also includes WWII items belonging to Aljen's grandon Ashly Wilbur Jewett. Collection includes ship hammer, 1941 one shilling New Zealand coin hammered into a ring, War photos, and brass locket of Ashley and his wife later in life.
