Coleccion de Noticias y Documentos para la Historia de Estado de N. Leon
Antonio Mier, Monterey, Mexico 1867 - Octavo, 21.5 x 14 cm, pp [xviii], 380. An early collection of documents relating to the history of the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The author was a professor of history at the local college. The Monterey imprint is scarce at this date, particularly for anything larger than broadsides and periodicals, which may account for the rather inferior print qualities and thin paper of this volume. The date of imprint puts it at the very end of Maximilian's short reign. The book is inscribed by a Sr. de la Garza to Juan Weber, an important German settler in the community at that time. Only 15 copies noted on OCLC; no appearance at auction. Probably original Mexican binding, half green leather over green boards, raised bands, gilt title material. Very good copy of a rather scarce and fragile Mexican imprint. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
