First U.S. edition. Collects fourteen stories. This early issue or printing with no date on the title page adds "Father Maddox's Tale," which appeared in the earlier UK edition, but not in the earliest version of the Benziger edition date 1907 on the title page. Benson's best collection of short fiction. "... Montague Summers said of A MIRROR OF SHALOTT ... that 'there are few better stories of this kind.'
