Any would also look nice displayed individually as well.*Offered primarily as inexpensive antique book shelf decoration, although great content overall and each worthy of reading, browsing or giving away individually as cool gifts*Titles are: Oeuvres Completes de Anatole France -- Vol VIII - odd volume- sold as a great binding. (Paris, 1926 by Calmann). Outstanding monumental full grained morocco binding, elaborately gilt ruled spines, boards & inner dentelles. Silk moire endpapers. Thick hand-made paper, deckled edges, a profusion of illustrations & plates, many plates also in different states. Book conoisseurs limited numbered edition. Text in French. G. J. Adler: A Dictionary of the German and English Languages- in two parts- both directions so to speak (New York, 1873). Huge, monumental volume. Likely among the most comprehensive such books of the era. J. G. Heck: Iconographic Encyclopaedia of Science, Literature, and Art - Translated by Baird-- 4 vols (New York, 1851). The key to the set of plates, countless thousands of individual tiny illustrations are identified in English. (Plates obviously not included, printed separately in 2 huge iconographic atlas volumes.). Front cover of vol.2 detached, Some old dampstaining within. Scribner's Magazine: Vol XIV -- July-December (New York, 1893). Profusely illustrated with many period in-tet offset illustrations. Tight sound well bound book. Harper's New Monthly Magazine: Vol XXIII -- June to November, 1861 (New York, 1861). Profusion of wood engravings throughout. Appears to be complete, not collated. Marbled boards. Ideal Empires and Republics: Rosseau's Social Contract, More's Utopia, etc. (London, 1901). Kelmscott Edition. Beautiful interior gilt decorated dentelles with blue leather endpapers. t. e. g., Lovely hand colored frontis plate. Hand-made paper, deckled edges, another portrait plate. Unopened. Front joint tender but holding- boook should be handled with care & respect for age. Dr. George Weber: Outlines of Universal History from the Creation of the World to the Present Time, Weber/ Behr. with the Revised & Corrected History of the United States by F. Bowen. (Boston, 1855). Offered at a starting price of just $35 / vol. For 100+ year old, well preserved antique leather bound books which are all worthy of individual inspection and placement on any library shelf. Think about it. It's inexpensive by any standard of measure, aside from free or something silly like $1 each. A heavy lot of large books. Issued c. 1851 - 1926. In Good to near VG, completely acceptable condition. Bindings lightly rubbed or age worn, joints with small scuff spots, spine heads with tiny minor chipping, scattered surface scuffing to some compartments, other mostly very minor age flaws. One of the 4 vols. of the Massive Encyclopedia set has a detached front cover. Overall the books remain good looking, clean, tight and sound. Instant credibility for s shelf of books, these are not rubbish low end junk books. They're nice antiquarian leather bound books, offered at auction room bargain price. Set measures c. 20 1/2 across shelf. Tallest volume measures c. 10 3/4" H; shortest measures c. 9" H. [A6853] [Attributes: Soft Cover]
