New York: Wiley and Putnam, 1845. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition, first printing of "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe, printed on pp. 143 under the pseudonym "Quarles." Half bound in contemporary leather binding over yellow cloth. Soiling and staining to cloth, with exposure to moisture evident to rear cover; leather rubbed at extremities. Contents Very Good, lacking tissue guard at frontis; foxing heavier at front and rear pages, previous owner names in pencil to front free end paper and binder ticker to front paste down. This volume also includes Poe's story "Some Words with a Mummy" (pp. 363-370), and his poems "The Valley of Unrest" and "The City in the Sea" (pp. 392-3), which unlike "The Raven," appear under Poe's name.
