Tom Chadwick and the Grosvenor School of Modern Art.
Fleece Press, Upper Denby 2012 - One of 210 standard copies, containing a 16 engravings printed from the original blocks. 118 illustrations. 34 x 34 cms, original quarter orange cloth, patterned paper covered boards, printed paper spine label, housed in a linen covered slipcase. Mint. Tom Chadwick was killed at Alamein when he was only 30 and is one of British art's most damaging losses of the Second World War. He was a superb painter and more especially wood engraver and this book places him back where he belongs in the heart of British art in the first half of the twentieth century. Iain Macnab said of Tom Chadwick that he was his finest pupil and here we can see why as all of his known engravings are reproduced here. Julian Francis has produced an outstanding biographical essay of the artist. A fascinating and beautifully produced book. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
