London: Longman, Brown, Green, and Longmans, 1849. Minor chip to rear upper corner, but no cracking, rebacked in black niger morocco, the inner joints reinforced. Red paper on upper cover soiled and a bit faded. All-in-all quite a decent copy. 98p. 1 leaf ads. illustrated with six full-page chromolithographs after illuminated manuscripts, text printed in red and black in black letter. In a carved and pierced papier mache binding, pierced so that crimson paper shows through. One of the most successful of all the gift or table books of this period. McLean.
