London: Isbister and Company Limited, 1902 - Octavo, pp. [1-11] 12-310 [311-312: blank] [note: last leaf is a blank], original decorated blue cloth, front panel stamped in red and gold, spine panel stamped in gold, publisher's monogram stamped in blind on rear panel. First edition. Mixed collection, largely supernatural, including "The Last of the Vampires," a surviving prehistoric 'bat-reptile' that drinks blood; "The Man-Eating Tree," a vampire plant; "Medusa," a hypnotic vampire; and, for variety, the futuristic "War in Europe" and "The Hunting of the Soko," a missing link. The second and the last by Phil Robinson, from UNDER THE PUNKAH (1881); "The Gift of Fernseed," a novella of invisibility drug by H. Perry Robinson. Authorship of other stories unconfirmed, possibly by E. Kay Robinson. Bleiler, Science-Fiction: The Early Years 1890. Frost, The Monster with a Thousand Faces, pp. 47-8.
