First edition. Mixed collection, largely supernatural, including "The Last of the Vampires," a surviving prehistoric 'bat-reptile' that drinks blood; "The Man-Eating Tree," a vampire plant; "Medusa," a hypnotic vampire; and, for variety, the futuristic "War in Europe" and "The Hunting of the Soko," a missing link. The second and the last by Phil Robinson, from UNDER THE PUNKAH (1881); "The Gift of Fernseed," a novella of invisibility drug by H. Perry Robinson. Authorship of other stories unconfirmed, possibly by E. Kay Robinson. Bleiler, Science-Fiction: The Early Years 1890. Frost, The Monster with a Thousand Faces, pp. 47-8.
