Kent and engraved by George Vertue ],[14],355,[1]; xii,388pp, with an allegorical frontispiece and 67 truly magnificent full-page copper-engraved chapter illustrations designed principally by John Vanderbank (William Hogarth contributed one) and engraved by Gerard van der Gucht, Bernard Baron, Vertue, and Claude du Bosc, and numerous fine head- and tailpieces. Handsomely rebound to style in full mottled calf, boards framed in blind with rolled vine border, spines in six compartments tooled in blind with center medallion between raised bands ruled in gilt, red morocco labels lettered and numbered in gilt, date of publication stamped in gilt. A Fine, wide-margined set, bindings virutally pristine (end papers renewed), text bright and fresh with only very occasional finger-soiling to margins, the plates in particularly deep, rich impressions.
