The Costume of the Hereditary States of the House of Austria, Displayed in Fifty Coloured Engravings; with Descriptions and an Introduction
London: Printed for William Miller By William Bulmer and Co., 1804. [4], iv, [2], fifty hand coloured plates, each with a leaf of text in English and in French to reverse. Title dated 1804 but later (see below). Slightly later full morocco, slightly raised bands, spine in seven panels, title to second and fifth panels, remaining panels with central quadrilobe and volute corner pieces of flower heads and leaves, covers with a single fillet bordering an anthemion roll framing a central lozenge, itself framing a large oval tool made up of volutes and grape seed heads, all in gilt with blind rolls to inner edge of anthemion roll and both sides of the central lozenge, gilt roll to edges and inner edges, a.e.g. Rubbed to extremities, corners bumped, spine faded, one or two small patches of darkening and discolouring. Internally some light foxing to endpapers, which are creased, especially at the front, occasional very light foxing and browning to text and plates, but generally quite bright and clean. Previous owners book plate (Earl Cowper, with a Panshanger book plate). With fifty hand coloured plates as called for, engraved by William Ellis and William Poole with two unsigned.
