Color frontis. folding b/w map, plan. “With notes and illustrations by Edward Blaquiere.” Pananti was in a good position to observe the country and its people in an intimate way, having been captured by Algerian pirates, sold into slavery and ransomed. After this exciting start he goes into great detail about social, political and economic conditions prevailing in the country.
