Duvernois, Henri
Manuscript in 21 sheets of part of a play by Henri Duvernois
Likely 1920s (it was found inserted into a copy of Morte la Bête -1926 - that Duvernois had given Edmond Roze, a theatrical director and producer and his wife Jeanne Silvain, an actress, in 1928). The sheets measure roughly 8.5 x 5.5 inches, are held together with a brass folding tack, labeled 'Acte III' on first page, and lightly written in pencil 'Mss of Henri Duvernois' - probably by Jeanne Silvain, who married an American after Roze's death at Auschwitz and came to live near Pittsburgh. Duvernois (1875-1937) is best known these days as a screenwriter but also published several plays in multiple acts through the 1920s and it is entirely conceivable that he gave a sample of a play to Roze to consider producing. We're not sure if this is part of a published work. Very Good.
