Le Duc, WG
Minnesota year book for 1852
St. Paul: W.G. Le Duc, Bookseller and Stationer, 1852. Slim 8vo, pp. [2], 98, [12] ads; woodcut frontispiece of Traverse des Sioux; extremities rubbed, mild waterstaining, but generally a very good copy in the original calf-backed printed boards; apparently the first book issued in printed boards in Minnesota. "One of the early specimens of printing in Minnesota Territory. Contains a graphic and truthful sketch of the Treaty of Mendota concluded with the Sioux on August 5, 1851, the Treaty with the Dacotahs and many other important records of relations with the Indians during that year together with the day-by-day journal of a tour into the Indian country. The Acts of the Legislative Assembly for the year are summarized, and appended to the volume are 8 [sic] pages of local business cards with crude illustrations." (Eberstadt). Martin, Minnesota Imprints, 49. Howes L-179.
