Paris: 1625, RARE BOOK! 1625 FRANCE - LE ROMANT DES INDES - JEAN DE LANNEL - PARIS - AUNC RARE BOOK First edition was titled "Roman Satirique" 1624 It is an allegorical painting of the customs of the court of Henry III and his successors. The author, after having changed the place of the scene and the names of the people. Lannel is best known for his satirical novel (1624), where he tries to present the picture of disorder and corruption that reigned in France at the beginning of the reign of Louis XIII. This work was successful because it presented, under assumed names, contemporary characters. In a second edition, Lannel imposed new names on his characters and moved the scene from Galatia to India, and the title of the book became the Roman of the Indies (1625).
