I searched numerous sources and collections, both public and private, and I could not find another copy of this rare publication. Title page reads in part "A Discourse / Putting / CHRISTIANS / IN MIND / To be Ready to Every / Good Work, / As it was Delivered in Boston, / Octob. 20th. 1706 / By Eliphalet Adams /...Boston: N. E. Printed by B. Green: / Sold by Benj. Elliot, at his Shop, 1706." The book also contains a second lecture that was delivered in Boston on November 29th, 1706. Handwritten notes on the first page read (spellings as written) "Beethyah Wheler Hur Book / Givin Hur By Hur mother / Sweetser / In the year 1718." Following that is a note in another hand reading "Dinah Blanchard Her / Book fell to her by the Widow Sary Lovejoy." This sermon would have been delivered in Boston about two years before he found his permanent ministry in New London, Connecticut. Eliphalet Adams was a clergyman who was born in Dedham, Massachusetts, 26 March, 1677. He died in New London, Connecticut, 4 October, 1753. He was the son of Rev.
