1948. Used book, no writing, foxed pages. Bar Room Reveries Hundreds of Belly Laughs Coll-Webb Co. First Edition 1948 Coll-Webb Co., Publishers, 1948, stated FIRST EDITION, unnumbered pages. Except for the name E. A. WEBB written in pencil on the Title page, there is apparent no writing in the book and there are no missing pages, the yellow cloth cover little has moderate wear and soiling bumped corner, the binding is tight, and the text pages heavily age-toned and foxed (likely from acidity of the paper used). This book is scarce with less than 1,000 printed and unknown number surviving but rarely available for purchase. Only the second copy I have possessed in over 36 years of collecting A.A. books. According to the Author: This book deals with the art of elbow-bending and with many cock-eyed tales concerning those who have exceed in this ancient past time. The book contains 288 numbered anecdotes; a collection of shared drinking stories that have been passed from one to another, some original and some embellished. Many are appearing in print for the first time. The author acknowledges Maxwell Droke and his friends for their many of the anecdotes used in the book The author included a "table of contents," which would be more appropriately be labeled an index, of 81 words or terms that classify the anecdotes contained in the book. A.A. is found as a reference for six of those stories. An example of the A.A. anecdote (139) states: A distracted woman consulted her family doctor regarding her husbands drinking problem.
