1886. Andrew Garran's 'Picturesque Atlas of Australia' was the first atlas and survey of the Australian continent that was culturally specific to Australia. This enormous, three-volume set of elephant folio features views, sketches, and historical descriptions of major regions of Australia including Victoria, Queensland, Southern Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, as well as impressive maps of the island. The work includes 41 full page woodcut engravings, 20+ double page color maps and over 800 in text engraved illustrations. There are 9 unbound folding maps as well. All of the folding maps and illustrations are in good condition. There is some foxing and edge page browning from age. The covers are some what loose and the back spines and corners are leather bound. Date 1886. The size is 17 1/4" x 13 3/4" Please study the photos as to condition and ask any questions.
