New York, 1884. This stunning, large follio chromolithograph is from Frederic Schiller Cozzens's American Yachts, Their Clubs and Races. The work was published in New York by Charles Scriber's Sons in 1884. The work chronicled American yachting from 1851 and 1884 from Cozzens's original watercolors. The lithography was completed by Armstrong & Co. Cozzens worked to make his illustrations as accurate as possible in the details of the yachts as well as the scenes portrayed.Frederic Schiller Cozzens was born in New York city and was a distinguished maritime artist. American Yachts, Their Clubs and Races was his first portfolio and featured a series of 27 chromolithographs. His work was also published in numerous magazines including Harper's Weekly. --- The work is in very good to excellent condition overall. There may be some chipping, wear, or handling to the edges which does not affect the image area. There may be a few minor imperfections to be expected with age.
