Rare Signed Presentation Copy F C SELOUS / A HUNTER'S WANDERINGS IN AFRICA 1893
A Hunter's Wanderings in Africa By FC Selous Published Richard Bentley andSon 1893 3rd ed. Extremely rare signed dedication copy to his friend Edward North Buxton. Buxton was a Hunter and Conservationist (1840-1920), Liberal M P, author of several hunting books, member of the Boone and Crockett club, along with Selous and Roosevelt, and was instrumental in organising Roosevelt's Safari in 1909. He unveiled the Selous bust in 1917 at the Natural History Museum. Selous was a huge admire of Buxton, and this copy is a unique and scarce find. 8vo. Rebound in green cloth, with spine and original cover tipped in. Original end papers. 455pp. Folding map, slight closed tear. Numerous illustrations, all as called for. Smudging foredge of first three pages, else very good indeed. One for the serious collector. Postage listed is for the UK.
