John Merbeck Book Of Common Prayers
London: Cambridge University Press, 1506. Facsimile. (Quick History) Richard Grafton was an English Printer and Historian born in 1506 and died after 1572. He is considered to be the first printer, to ever print the book of common prayer. ---------------------------------------------- Both of these facsimiles complement one another. For example, while the small 1845 facsimile is small in size and easier to read without the gothic font. It also has the 17 pages dedicated to the history of John Marbeck. But, the larger 1844 facsimile is great aesthetically speaking. Because, it reads in dark gothic font and in dark red & black musical scores. The text is not so crammed too. -------------------------------------------- (Publication) Printed in London, by William Pickering in 1844. (Description) Complete. Unpaginated. Good condition internally with no loss in text and the text is nice, crisp and dark throughout. Leafs are edge foxed throughout this work. Expect edge wear on the leafs along with some tears. Bound in contemporary grey cloth (cloth is soiled). Board edges are worn. Spine ends chipped. Small tear in the binding between the board and spine. Spine label damaged with some loss in text. Contemporary & later ownership signatures.
