Burma, late 1800's, Tai Yai (State of Shan). 42 pages 200×34×12 cm This foldable book has cabalistic diagrams in white ink on a black background, images for divination, tattoos and occult practices, supernatural animals, deities, protective ogres, including Rahu representations, magical tigres, magic dials etc. The script is probably a Shan script (closely related to the Mon alphabet). Records spells and other magical practices - it is a traditional system of belief for the Shan or Tai, parallel to their adherence to Theravada Buddhism. Returns not accepted.
