Leather clasps. All edges gilt, with elaborate blind-stamped decoration. Marbled endpapers. Lacking the two title pages. The Old Testament is the third edition prepared by Menasseh ben Israel (See Moule & Darlow 5123, 5124, and 5127). Printed for J. Jansson, and intended to range with his editions of the Greek New Testament and Latin Bible issued in 1639; Mash (Pt. 2, vol. 3, p. 469) describes a volume containing all three books bound together. Part I contains Pentateuch, Megilloth and Hagiographa, 112, 94ff., with appended table of Haphtaroth, ending with colophon. Part II contains the Prophets, 166 ff. Decorative headings. Text in two columns. (See Moule & Darlow 5127) Bound with, J. Jansson's edition of the Greek New Testament issued in 1639. Decorative initials. Text in two columns. (See Moule & Darlow 4684, 5127) Moderate rubbing along edges of binding. Leather clasps partly missing. Previous owner's name in ink on upper margin of the first page of the Old and New Testament (Fletcher). Moderate age-toning to very first and very last leaves. Text in Hebrew and Greek. Binding in overall good+, interior in good+ to very good condition. g to vg.
