Antesignani Rapistagnensis... Paris, Andream Wechelum, 1572. 4to. 54 leaves. 414 pages. 1 leaf. Full calf, ornamented spine with raised bands, gilt coat of arms in the center of boards, with gilt fillet round them and owner's name in the center of the coat of arms gilt on the top board, poetic motto and date in gilt letters (contemporary binding). The Greek grammar of Flemish philologist Nicolas Clenard (1495-1542), published for the first time in 1530, in a rare edition for the schools of Paris.Precious copy bound for scholar Salomon Beaupoil, who had his name, the date of 1580 and the following text inscribed in gilt letters on the upper cover:"Huius libri possessoris carmen. Possidet hunc librum non vi sed jure decorae eximium nomen cui imposuere coma".In the center of each boards appears the coat of arms of the city of Geneva, with the motto "Post Tenebras Lux", an unmistakable sign of allegiance to Calvinism. This copy then belonged to another scholar, who signed "Joannis Laget, Buxensis".
