Includes all 8 volumes.Tennyson's work is some of the most recognizable and well-known poetry in theEnglish language. This particular collection is in pristine condition sinceit was owned by the Community Library of Blowing Rock, NC, with stamps and a blankreturn book slip at the end. It has 2 prices printed, $1,350 (at the Contents)and $500 (first page). One of the two was the price the Library sold it. The books arebound with blue cloth-covered boards with a gilt illustration of Tennyson'scoat of arms on the front cover. Each volume is signed by the publisher andnumbered. Preface by Elisabeth Luther Cary, photogravures, dark blue coverswith gilt decoration. Each volume hasbeautifully illustrated photogravures from original designs by the notedartists Frederick Simpson Coburn and Gustave Dore. The illustrations areseparated by printed tissue guards and are gorgeous. Hardcovers andpages are in excellent condition, clean with natural light marks, as expectedon 112-year-old books. Top of the spines of all books are in perfect conditionexcept for volume 3 that has a small tear. Bindings are tight and square. This is abeautiful and well conserved collection.
