1824 Voltaire's Philosophical Dictionary 6 volumes London
London: 1824. The title of the books is "A Philosophical Dictionary from the French of M. De Voltaire". They were published in London in 1824 by John and Henry L. Hunt. Their size is about 7" by 4". They have four raised ribs on each spine, marbled pages inside the front and back, and much gold decoration. Volume 1 has a 33 page preface: Including a Few Observations on the Life, Conduct, and and Philosophical Writings of Voltaire followed by an alphabetical listing starting with "Alphabet" and ending at "Baptism". Volume 6 ends with "Zoroaster and then has a lengthy index. I think that the books are in remarkably good condition for their age. The major defects that I see are: Volume I has a very small dent at the top, and a few pages show evidence of past water damage, there are a few loose pages in Volume III, and the spine of Volume 6 has partially separated from the rest of the book. Please ask if you have questions, since I'm a rank amateur in describing antique books. Insurance will be added as a handling charge.
