The previous owner was Paul McBride Gillis. His name is written in 2 places in the book and there is also an embossed personal library stamp with his name. It would appear that he had a personal interest in the Mayflower history (perhaps as a descendant?). He has attached to the book two pieces of correspondence between himself and Captain Alan Villers who commanded the voyage of the Mayflower II in 1957. Both signed by Alan Villiers. He also attached: A First Day of Issue stamped envelope dated 11-21-1970, marking the 350th anniversary of the landing of the Mayflower. A First Day of Issue stamped envelope dated 11-21-1970, the Official First Day of Issue General Society of Mayflower Descendants "The Mayflower Compact" card, signed by Alan Villiers Master of Mayflower, enclosed in envelope with postal cancellation stamp "Mayflower II Maiden Voyage", dated Apr-Jly 1957, also postmarked on the back of the envelope Plymouth, Mass. June 13 1957. This item is autographed by Alan Villers. A notation on the book reads, "First Day Cover. Autographed at Mt. Lebanon H.S.
