1764 Anthony Purver Quaker Bible: A New And Literal Translation Of All The Books

(Description) "An original version, by a member of the Society of Friends, who is said to have spent 30 years in its preparation. Purver (1702-1777) began his translation about 1733. A portion of it was published in parts about 1742 by Felix Farley, the Bristol Printer; but it received little support. Subsequently, in 1763, Dr. John Fothergill gave Purver £1,000 for the copyright, and published the complete version at his own expense." (HERBERT, 1968) Two large and heavy volumes. Textually complete with all blanks present. GENERALLY IN VERY GOOD CONDITION and very rare to have it in this condition. The blanks: are moderately to heavily foxed on the edges mainly. Some repairs have been made to these blanks. There's some chipping and tears on the edges of those blanks. Beyond the blanks; Within the two volumes edge wear, chipping, and tearing of the leafs are very minor and are not as bad as the blanks! But, some of it starts to trickle in near the end of the Bible (particularly in volume 2) Expect some light to moderate foxing present in the margins, gutters, and the edges of the leafs. In volume 1 there's a persistent water stain in the bottom corner margin of the leafs, of which starts at P.129 and progressively gets larger only to get smaller as you progress with the Bible.
