Roald Dahl
Roald Dahl - Danny The Champion of the World - SIGNED First US Edition 1975
Alfred Knopf. Roald Dahl - Danny The Champion of the World First US Edition 1975 - SIGNED and INSCRIBED A first edition, first printing, published by Alfred Knopf in 1975. A fine copy without inscriptions. SIGNED and INSCRIBED on the front free endpaper 'To Andrew and Rebecca [Highton]/Love/Roald Dahl/1977'. Additionally, Dahl has written 'American Edition' on the front pastedown. In a fine unclipped slightly spine faded wrapper. A lovely copy. Douglas Highton attended St Peter's prep school in Weston-super-Mare with Roald Dahl. As a friend, Douglas supported Roald during an incident at school, which Roald would never forget and later recounted in his autobiographical book 'Boy'. Douglas also appears anecdotally in the short story 'Lucky Break', and as a character in the short story 'The Swan'. The two stayed in touch over the years and Douglas would visit Roald at home in Great Missenden where Roald kindly signed many books for Douglas' grandchildren, Andrew and Rebecca. ___________________________________________ JOHN ATKINSON BOOKS is a full-time professional bookseller in Ripon, North Yorkshire.
