Conjuros y ebriedades: Cantos de mujeres mayas
Taller Le?ateros, San Crist?bal de las Casas, M?xico, 2007. According to the introduction by Elena Poniatowska, this is the first book written, illustrated, and assembled by Mayans in more than 500 years ("es el primer libro escrito, ilustrado y confeccionado por el pueblo Mayo en m?s de 500 a?os."). This historic book collects a hundred or so poems in Spanish and Maya (with facing-page translations into Spanish), with two color illustrations by Mayan artists. This is the second edition, with the Poniatowska introduction, which is not present in the 1997/8 first edition. The sheets are printed offset from the serigraphed first edition. The binding, a sculpted face made from molded fiber, is the same as the first edition. The second edition comes in a printed cardboard box not included with the first.
