1750 TRATADO DE LIMITES Treaty of Madrid Rare Americana Uncirculated 1st edit.
1750. Uncirculated exemplar, never placed on the market, in pure state, with several unopened gatherings, not sewed, still uncut. First edition of the historical 1750 Treaty of Madrid (a second edition was published in 1802). Under this treaty, the Treaty of Tordesillas was revoked, and new boundaries in the Americas were established. Besides the text of the Treaty of Tordesillas which demarcated Portuguese and Spanish claims to discoveries in the New World, it includes the 1493 Papal Bull of Alexander VI, the Treaty of Zaragoza, the provisional Treaty of 1681 and other early documents of great importance for the history of America. This agreement was strongly opposed by the Jesuits who had missions in America. According to the renowned bibliographer Borba de Moraes "this first edition of the famous Treaty of Madrid is rare and sought after. It may be noted that all the essential documents for the study of the question of Brazil's frontiers are assembled in one volume."
