Theodore Roosevelt
Set of "Prairie Edition" Works series BY Theodore Roosevelt Antique Books
1905. 14 of 14 volumes of the "Prairie Edition" of the Works series. Contemporary 3/4 red morocco, raised band, gilt-decorated spines w/ marbled boards and end-papers, TEG, cut/uncut pages. A selection of Roosevelt's most important histories, essays and hunting stories published up to the year 1903, each volume w/ its own frontispiece illustration. Titles incl The Naval War of 1812, American Ideals, The Winning of the West, Hunting Trips, Hunting the Grisly, and Wilderness Hunter. While a student at Harvard, Roosevelt " wrote the first two chapters of The Naval War of 1812 (1882), a work acclaimed in British and American naval circles alike" The books need to have the library items removed pockets barcodes and so on. The first Volume has a loose cover that is a clean break on the spine. Easy fix. These books were purchased many years ago from the charity auction at the Chesapeake College for much more than I an listing them for. This would make an amazing Christmas gift. [Attributes: First Edition]
