Bound as a Leporello [fan folded] between original decorated silk covers in a bamboo motif. 4to; 10.5 inches by 7.5 inches with 21 plates of hand-coloured cartoons. Near-Fine condition with a bit of handling wear to the silk and minor toning / offset to the pages. Handsome and collectible. The Austrian artist Friedrich Schiff lived and worked in Shanghai during the 1930s and part of the 1940s. His colorful caricatures of the city's daily life in the International Settlement in the 1930s and 1940s. mostly dealing with the interaction between Chinese people and Westerners are iconic.
