Rome: Giovanni Giacomo De Rossi, 1665. This is a rare collection of engravings (88 in total) by Giovanni Battista Falda (1643-1678); 3 volumes (Primo; Secondo; Terzo) bound in 1 volume. Title: Il Nuovo Teatro Delle Fabriche, Et Edificii, In Prospettiva Di Roma Moderna, Sotto Il Felice Pontificato Di N. S. Papa Alessandro VII From Southern California estate; originally obtained from the world-renowned antiquarian bookseller, Libreria Antiquaria Bourlot of Tourin, Italy. There is a write-up within which describes this collection as follows: "Oblong folio, 3 parts in 1 Volume. 88 engraved plates, including title and dedication leaf to each part. Modern vellum. First edition and first state of the engravings, before the number. Very important series of prints for the topography and architecture of Rome in the 17th century, an unsurpassed survey of Roman Baroque. Fowler Cat., 116; Berlin Cat., 2666." In the first volume there are 33 engravings, plus the Title page and Dedication page. In the second volume there are 15 engravings, plus the Title page and Dedication page. In the third volume there are 34 engravings, plus Title page and Dedication page. Each page measures approximately 10 1/4 inches x 14 3/4 inches Condition: Good; condition commensurate with age: toning, foxing, paper discoloration evident.
