New York: Doubleday. THE VANISHING RACE by Dixon 1ST ED 1913 Native American 80 PHOTOGRAVURES -EXC!! A stunning and very clean 1913 first edition of a rare and desirable book called The Vanishing Race, written and illustrated by Dr. Joseph K. Dixon with 80 gorgeous and dramatic photogravures by Rodman Wanamaker that show Indian chiefs and Indian life. The images rival those of the famed photographer of the same era, Edward Sheriff Curtis. The book is credited on the title page as "the concept of Rodman Wanamaker" who held the copyright on the book. Published in 1913, this first-edition large (7" x 10") 8vo hardcover book has cloth-covered brick-colored boards with gilt title and a beautifully designed cover and spine. It is 222 pages long and was published by Doubleday, Page & Company in Garden City, New York. The book is really in stunning condition with no markings on the interior pages and containing all 80 of its photogravures which are also in stunning condition with no flaws or deterioration. The only defects I can find are some minor fraying of the cloth-covered boards at the corners and on the top and bottom edges of the spine, and the tissue guard over … [Click Below for Full Description]
