CAPPELLA (Prospero).
Odarum Libri VI et Epodon I.
Neapoli, apud Castaldum, 1682. 16mo. Engraved frontispiece. 5 leaves. 310 pages. 2 leaves. (1 blank leaf). Full contemporary calf, ornamented spine (worn). First Edition printed in Naples of this small volume of neo-latin poetry composed by the Jesuit Prospero Cappella (dead in 1703), originary from Anversa in the surroundings of Naples. The volume, which contains poems on astronomical phaenomena and natural history (the moon, the stars, the Vesuvio, etc.) is ornamented with a very nice engraved frontispiece representing Pegasus and the muses. Clear waterstain mark, a few leaves uniformly browned. Quite a good copy. Not in Oberlé, "Poètes Néo-Latins en Europe (XI - XXe s.)".
