A Paris: Robert de Ninville, 1666. I am limited to 12 photos on eBay, but I have many more photos on my website...just ask. Henry Lord, a 16th-century English clergyman, was best known for his voyage to India with the East India Company. He, along with Thomas Kerridge, traveled to Surat where he gained extensive understanding of India and the Gujarat region. When he returned to England in 1630, he published his book "A Display of the East Indies". This book discusses the ancient natives of India and southern Persia, particularly the Bania people. Lord describes the customs, cultures, religious ceremonies, and notes from the Sanskrit book of knowledge, the Shastra. This 1666 French edition of Lord's masterpiece was translated out of the original English by Pierre Briot. [Attributes: First Edition]
