THE WORKS OF LORD BYRON: WITH HIS LETTERS AND JOURNALS, AND HIS LIFE IN 14 VOLUMES PLUS BYRON'S DON JUAN IN 3 VOLUMES By Thomas Moore John Murray 1832-1833 Beautiful matching leather boards with gold ruling and decorative stamping at edges. Titles and volume numbers on spine over 2 maroon labels between raised bands and decorations in gold. Boards show edge wear and rubbing. Some of the boards are blue, and others purple, likely due to sunning. All page edges are marbleized. All endpapers are marbleized as well. Previous owner's bookplate on inside paste downs of each volume. Small pencil notation to blank verso of first free endpapers. 2 engravings in each volume preceding the title pages, a few are tissue guarded. Occasional light foxing, text pages are otherwise clean. Volume X has some bumped corners. All 17 volumes have the title: THE WORKS OF LORD BYRON: WITH HIS LETTERS AND JOURNALS, AND HIS LIFE on their title pages, and are numbered I thru XVII on the title pages. However, on the spines, the books are numbered I thru XIV, and then the last 3 volumes are numbered I thru III. Volumes I thru VI are marked LIFE OF BYRON on the spine, Volumes VII thru XIV are marked WORKS OF BYRON on the spine, and volumes I thru III are marked BYRON'S DON JUAN on the spine. Volumes I thru XII state the set to be in 14 volumes and are dated 1832. Volume XIII is dated 1833 and the advertisement page after the title page mentions that the set will now be 17 volumes. Volumes XIV thru XVII are dated 1833 and only the title page of Volume XVII says "in 17 volumes" . A very nice set for … [Click Below for Full Description]
