A Complete History of Yorkshire, Durham, Northumberland, Cumberland & etc 1730
E & R Nutt, 1730. See description. A Complete History of Yorkshire, Durham, Northumberland, Cumberland & Westmorland, published by E & R Nutt in 1730. No author stated. This book has be been rebound by a library and may be a compilation or just part of several works. There is no actual title page for Yorkshire, Northumberland, Cumberland or Westmorland, but I presume they are of the same publisher and date. The title that appears on the spine is " In The New Description and State of England", it also gives the author as Morden. Half leather bound with green leather spine and corners with blue cloth hard boards and gilt lettering on the spine. There is very little wear to the boards, but there is sunning to the spine and the remnant of a sticker on the lower spine tile. Tightly bound. Inserts have been removed rom the end papers and pastedowns and there is one library stamp on the front end paper. Yellowed text block with some use soiling and pencil marginalia throughout. There are a very few edge splits. The maps (one for each county) are in lovely condition considering the age. The Yorkshire map has a small area of loss on the lower edge, but has subsequently been backed on paper for protection (in antiquity). Pagination variations throughout. pp331 - 646 covers Yorkshire and Durham, pp599 - 763 covers Northumberland, pp365-422 covers Cumberland and pp1-46 covers Westmorland. NB I do not take offers please do not ask.
