Estratti dal Vol. 1. dell'Opera Il Ruwenzori Relazione Scientifiche [so titled to spine.] Six offprints from the scientific volume of the Account of the Expedition of Prince Luigi Amedeo of Savoy, Duke of the Abruzzi, to the Ruwenzori Mountains. N.p. [Milan: Ulrico Hoepli], n.d. [1908]. Large 8vo. A presentation copy from the author "A Sua Maesta Vittorio Emmanuele III Re d'Italia Omaggio Lorenzo Camerano", with the King's library labels to spine and flyleaf. Lorenzo Camerano (1856-1917), an Italian natural historian, joined the Duke of the Abruzzi's Ruwenzori expedition of 1906, and was in charge of the zoological work of the expedition. These articles reprint from the scientific volumes deriving from the expedition the sections contributed by Camerano himself, and concern colubus and red-tailed monkeys, the Ruwenzori Leopard, Grant's zebra, the African buffalo, and the insects of the region. The offprints were collected, bound, and presented by Camerano to the King of Italy Vittorio Emanuele III, a cousin of the Duke of the Abruzzi. Camerano himself went on to become president of the Italian Alpine Club in 1910. [Attributes: First Edition]
