Uniontown, Fayette Co., Pennsylvania. This summary is from another listing: James Dukes wrote Captain A.C. Nutt (a well respected and better connected Civil War veteran) breaking his engagement to daughter Lizzie Nutt, accusing her of questionable virginity. Meeting at Dukes home, per his request, Captain Nutt was shot in the chest and killed. Dukes cried self defense and was acquitted by a jury. He was found to have been engaged to at least three women at the time. Some months later, Lizzie's 19 year old brother emerged from an alley and shot Dukes dead. This trial had to be moved to Pittsburg, still not achieving total unbias. The youngest Nutt was acquitted by reason of emotional insanity, which might have been a sweet end to the story - had he not killed two more men when he moved to Kansas.
