Lost Horizon by James HILTON [First Edition, First Impression in Fine Condition in Very Good Dust Jacket]
1933. London: Macmillan and Co., 1937, First Edition, First Impression. Extremely well preserved first edition, first impression copy of this work, in a very dust jacket with one ¾ inch tear to the lower rear joint, in very bright, fine condition. Dust Jacket tear to the rear joint, ¾ inch in length, minor folding against the boards to the edges, foxing to the front and rear internal folds, unclipped, folded to the bottom corner of the front interior fold (beneath the price) and top of the rear interior fold. Foxed to the inside of the jacket, to the folds and the spine, tanned to the board area. Book bright, clean green cloth with gilt titles, minor foxing to the paste downs and front end paper, minor dent to the paper of the title page and to pages 117 to 133, not visible in a photograph unfortunately (and I wouldn t mention it for any other volume), very small folded corner to page 249. We purchased this volume, the whole covered in green paper and virtually untouched since the day it was purchased in 1933, covered in green paper in October 1933. The previous owner even went to the trouble of signing and dating the green paper which then covered the dust jacket. The green cloth covers are still bright and clean, and the book is now protected in the original green paper cover inside a full leather clamshell box with gilt titles to the spine, and front board and gilt double lines both boards. The clamshell box slightly misaligned but stands straight. Internally the pages look unread, and are unmarked, aside comments above. Unclipped dust jacket.
