[2], v-xxiv, 168p. 23 plates containing 72 illustrations of animals. Plus illustrated title page. 5 plates on blue paper. Worldcat only records 22 plates. Good: Front board attached by the cords only. Rear joint split ant top and tail. Rubbed and bumped with loss. Missing front free endpaper. Missing first page, presumed to be half title. Ink inscription to front free endpaper and title page, partially removed. Two plates crudely coloured. Scattered foxing. Title page age tined. Five sections: quadrupeds containing 86 animal descriptions, birds containing 197, fishes containing 53, reptiles containing 20, and insects containing 48. The British Critic wrote of it: "The materials are arranged with much general accuracy; and the whole may be recommended to young persons, as containing much useful information." Rare.
